about the artist
annette von heimbruch- hicks is a self-taught artist who was born in germany,
raised in atlanta, ga. and now resides on the eastern shore of maryland. her unique
style of bringing the subject out onto the mat brings depth & dimension to her
portraits.when asked how she captures the "spirit" of her subjects,
she replies
" because they let me " .

my chunky monkey "scout" .... 2002-2010
Scout was best known for his big beautiful smile that could light up even the darkest of days or the saddest of hearts. He was a sweet "quirky" guy who just loved to be loved.... When you got lost in his soulful eyes... you knew you were in the presence of the biggest heart....
Taken from us much too soon, he will be missed every day.... and nights when I lay my head down, I still feel his body snuggled up to my back & hear the stark quiet in place of his soft snoring in my ear....
When it is my turn to go to the bridge to be reunited with my chunky monkey... I know I will see that wonderful "gallop" he did whenever I called his name.... and his sweet kisses will softly touch my face again....
