***************************** "petey"

Darling two year old Petey came to us via Boston Buddies in Southern California.
Although we didn't have a lot of information about Petey's past, we took one look at
his sweet face and knew he would make the perfect companion for our little Chassie.
It was a case of love at first sight for both. Two and a half years later, the four year
olds spend all of their days happily together, snoozing on the patio, playing games
of tug and chase, and of course conspiring to find new ways of getting just one more
bite of chicken from Daddy's plate. A match made in heaven!
"reagan"
About a year after Petey came to live with us, Boston Buddies contacted us about a little guy
named Reagan who nobody was interested in adopting. We took one peek and immediately
decided he was for us! Little Reags doesn't seem to know that he is nine years old and deaf.
...neither do his brothers and sister. Petey, Buddy and Chassie love the bells he wears so that
we can find him in the dark. He is our little bunny, our funny clown and we can't imagine
our lives without him.
" buddy"

Little Buddy was found in early January of this year wandering the streets of Los Angeles.
He was so very thin, sick and all alone. We agreed to foster him while efforts were made
to locate his family. When it became apparent that no one would be coming forward to
claim him, we decided to make him our fourth Boston. We just couldn't let him go and
could not understand why anyone would not be out madly searching for him. With the
help of our wonderful vet, Buddy is now a happy, healthy member of the gang, living a
very laid back California lifestyle with his brothers and sister.
buddy, reagan & petey are all brothers now and
have a wonderful forever home together!

"maggie"

Maggie is a 2 y.o. smart and beautiful tomboy. She came from the other side of the
country just like us. Her daddy couldn't take care of her anymore
and surrendered her to Yorkies Rescue Me. She made her foster mom
call us to come and get her. Now she is enjoying the big
back yard, the long walks on the river banks and tries to make her
sister Mitzi play with her. We are truly blessed to have her in our lives!

"kuno" & "molly"
Kuno
When my first boxer passed away I was devastated.
I needed to have another boxer in my life and started searching.
This is when I found Boxer Rescue Canada. I was matched up with
Kuno and it was instand love. Although he had his quirks and caused
me a fair amount of frustration I loved him so dearly. We had 7
wonderful years together and I will be forever grateful for this time.
He was such a clown and although I miss him so dearly and tear up
just talking about him, his memory will always bring a smile to my face.
He was the biggest presence in my home and I have never met another
dog who had such determination.
Molly
Molly was dumped at the vet when she was ill because her owners just
gave up treating her. She was in terrible shape and it was touch and go.
I agreed to take Molly on as a foster and over the next number of months
she grew stronger. Molly had long lasting effects of her illness and suffered
some organ damage. Without being able to say if she would have any
longevity, Molly stayed with us. Kuno adored his new sister and they were
together for 3 miraculous, wonderful years. Molly was a fighter, a very happy
girl and a comforting nurturer. She always tried to keep everyone in line and
was loves by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

"belle"

Belle spent most of her life in a cage, living at a puppy mill and doing nothing more than producing puppies - litter after litter. Thankfully, although scary for her, Belle was part of an SPCA seizure and was taken, with her puppies, to safety. Sadly she and her pups were in bad shape and some didn't make it. For about a year Belle was in foster care, making sure her medical needs were taken care of and her emotional wounds were healed. Belle finally found her perfect home. It was love at first sight. She had only 6 months of bliss and Belle got sick. Bell had lymphoma and we lost her a short time later. Belle is missed dearly but we're so glad she got a chance to know what love is and had a fabulous home.

"shelby"

Shelby is our darling 5 year old Boston who we "rescued" from someone's basement. Shelby was originally purchased as a gift, but when the relationship went sour, the gal returned Shelby and said she didn't want her any more. For the next 9 months or so, Shelby bounced around to several homes and in the process was left out in the cold and frostbite took off a chunk of her ear. We got a call the day after Thanksgiving that Shelby was ours if we wanted her - we just had to let ourselves into the basement and take her, otherwise she was going to the shelter when her owner was back from a weekend trip. When we opened the basement door, this skinny, dirty, hyper smiling dog greeted us and we knew Shelby was meant to be ours!
" penny "

Penny is our newest addition and is a Midwest Boston Terrier alumni. We first spotted Penny on an Indiana shelter's website and by the time we called for more information, they told us that rescue was already on the way to get her. Luckily for us it was MWBTR and we had already been approved to adopt with them, so we exchanged a few emails and phone calls over the next couple weeks and arranged a time to meet. We took Shelby to meet Penny and were introduced to Denise from MWBTR who was Penny's foster mom. Denise gave us some wonderful tips for integrating Penny into our pack and working with both dogs on some training. We made the adoption official the next day, and now I am proud to say that I volunteer with MWBTR. I was so impressed with Denise and Danielle and all the MWBTR folks I met in the process, I knew I wanted to be a part of that!

" louie "
Louie 'Magoo'
Louie was given up by a young lady when she decided to marry someone
who didn't like dogs. Why she made that decision is a mystery, but
that's how Louie came to be my little Magoo. My father took Louie in,
safe in the knowledge that I'd adopt him without thinking twice about
it.
Louie suffered from juvenile cataracts which left him with only about
20% of his sight by the time he was two years old. It didn't seem to
affect him negatively, and he remained the sweetest and most loving
dog I've ever known. Everyone (and every dog) who met Louie instantly
loved him and he never met a stranger, but Louie's best friends were
his BT brudder, Pudge, and his big Boxer buddy, Jasper. All three of
them are together again at The Bridge.
" jazzy "
Jazz (aka Jazzy Poof)
Jazzy was adopted through BARC in March of 2000. She was rescued when
a greedy BYB in Marshall, TX was forced to give up her breeding dogs
due to her own health issues. Although Jazzy is smart as a whip and
as sweet as they come, she's certainly nowhere near the breed standard
and should never have been used for breeding. She suffers from food
and environmental allergies that require a very strict home cooked
diet and frequent baths/wipe-downs during the spring and summer
months.
Our Jazzy-girl is the Grand Dame of the BeanDog crew and she keeps
everyone in line. She's especially fond of Turtle (ABTR rescue) and
even though she's twice his size, she'll always let him win a game of
tug. At 13 years old, she's still bright-eyed and agile, though she
does love her naps!
" turtle "
Turtle 'Tot'
Turtle was adopted through American Boston Terrier Rescue in its
earliest days. I joke that he was an 'accidental' adoption b/c I
really wasn't looking to add another pup to our family at the time.
We met Turtle (fka Bach) when we drove a great little BT up to Wanda
for fostering. It was supposed to be a simple shelter pull/transport,
but Turtle caught the attention of my boyfriend and it was love at
first sight. For a guy who claimed not to be a dog person, he fell
hard and fast for the Tot. He convinced me that we needed to foster
Turtle/Bach, but I knew right off the bat that this little dog wasn't
going anywhere. He had already found his forever home.
(Note: ABTR carefully screens all foster/adoptive homes. As an ABTR
Board member, I was already approved to foster/adopt.) Heidi
